Learning Assistance Service University Counseling Center
We are interested in having an intern from the HCI Masters program work on the following tasks for the Learning Assistance Service:
(1) Develop learning skills animations (scripted by LAS)
(2) Interactive quizzes (various learning skills topics) that capture and analyze student responses
(3) Website improvements (within current Counseling Center existing parameters)
(4) Develop online survey/checklist to be sent to students prior to LAS visit

As a User Researcher Intern at Autodesk you will shape the user experience for billions of design professionals worldwide. Join a talented team of User Researchers and partner with interaction designers, prototypers and product managers to deliver designs of exceptional quality and usability. Help develop and pilot usability tests; set up test environments in our usability lab; act as observer and note taker during test sessions; and facilitate actual test sessions with users. Responsibilities include working with designers to conduct usability tests and customer field studies that generate user interface requirements. An understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods is required.
Desired Skills and Experience include: Knowledge in at least one or more user research methodology, including: designing and conducting usability studies, ethnographic research, statistical analysis, heuristic evaluations, and focus groups. Prototyping using Adobe® Illustrator®, Photoshop®, HTML, Flash®, Director, Fireworks, Microsoft® PowerPoint® software is desirable.

Ideal Candidate: BA/MA/MFA students or recent graduates in Interaction Design, Industrial Design or Digital Media Design, with excellent visual design, interaction design, product design skills and experiences in designing interactive demos and user interfaces for complex systems and products. Brief description of what will be expected during internship:
Researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, in partnership with the Department of Homeland Securitys Science and Technology Directorate, is leading an R&D effort intended to create the next generation of technologies and tools related to information analysis, communication and information sharing, collaboration, and visualization of information to support decision making and operations within the emergency operations domain.
To develop the requirements for these environments, PNNL adopted a user centered design philosophy where the user is involved in all aspects of the research from requirements definition, scenario and use case development, envisioning and feature development. As an intern on this project you will be working closely with senior designers, research scientists, developers and emergency response professionals to help design Novel User Interface prototypes across form factors like mobile, tablet, desktop workstations and interactive tables and walls. These prototypes will drive adaptive data triage and decision support that allows for role and activity based situation awareness through a dynamic, trainable filtering system. The interns responsibilities will include user research, driving user requirements, writing scenarios and use cases, establishing workflows, designing user experiences, production and usability testing.
